High speed internet would be very useful
Dubbo based company Vision Communicators is one local company urgently in need of
High speed Internet connections.
The company specializes in acquiring high resolution digital aerial imagery. The photography is processed with state of the art software that stitches all of the photographs together to form a single photo, which can then be used in mapping applications such as Google Earth.
Owner Brian Harvey has recently negotiated terms with similar operators in the United States of America , to undertake the photography acquisition and then send the images to Dubbo for the digital processing needed to create a map ready product.
Mr.Harvey said that because we are transferring many gigabytes of data in both directions a high speed connection will mean that we will be able to process much larger projects faster.
With our time-zone difference, the USA files are transmitted at the end of their day, which is early morning here.
The files are then processed in Dubbo day time, and the finished files are then uploaded back to the USA, 12 hours later.
Whilst ADSL2+ gets us underway, for large transfers of 50 GB and above we have to resort to express couriers which means a few days delay, which with current upload speeds is faster than a file transfer.
